WELCOME!
You can learn a lot about "ERGO" by typing "ERGO/help" on the
command line.
INSTALLATION
The easiest way to install this program is to first build a temp
directory, and go to it. If you have the self-extracting file
"1ERGO.EXE", just type "1ERGO", otherwise if you have the
file called "1ERGO.ZIP", type "PKUNZIP 1ERGO". The file will
unzip itself, and you can look at what's there and get a grasp of
what you will want to move to a directory in your path (like
\UTIL or \BAT), and what you will just want to read and move off
to floppy, or whatever it is you do with files like this one.
Most likely, you will want to move the following to a directory
that is referenced in your path statement:
ERGO.EXE
CL.EXE
DOS's CLS command is a little too destructive to the method of
colorization that we use. We don't take up any memory or risk
you to incompatabilities with a TSR or anything like that. To do
a clear screen command that doesn't wipe out your colorization
preferences, use "CL" which should be included with "ERGO".
REGISTRATION INFO
See the E_ORDER.DOC file, for an order form. If you should lose
the order form, the most essential information is listed in the
"ERGO" registration screens.
THE FOUNDATION SOFTWARE PHILOSOPHY
The owner of this program is and has been primarily a main-frame,
business applications programmer for the past 14 years. In that
time he has written and bought many hundreds of programs. His ex-
perience contributes immensely to the software that we provide.
Our programs are as bug free as you will find anywhere, and we
try to avoid the approach where you will buy something now to use
until the next version is released. Our software is not released
before it's time, and is not designed to contain limitations that
will be "fixed in the next release." If you like the style and
functionality of our programs, you will relate to them in the
same way a carpenter relates to a hammer. It's there, and it does
the job as efficiently as it can be done. It is our hope, however
that based on your feedback we may enhance our products to be
even more useful than ever, but these type of releases will be
few and far between.
We also feel that anyone who owns one of our utilities will want
the rest. They complement, and cooperate with each other in a way
that gives the environment a particular feel that you wouldn't
otherwise experience. We thought about tacking on an extra $5.00
per product, but at the same time we wanted to provide you with
another incentive to become one of our customers. So the decision
was made to throw in all of the other Foundation Utilities to
provide that incentive.
"C" and "D" are a couple of great utilities that you will
really want to use every day. Both of them are included in this
offer. You will probably use our "T" utility too, but writing it
did not require a great deal of effort as did the others.
If you plan to distribute this program for a fee, please read the
E_VENDOR.DOC file for requirements. Note, non-profit BBS's and
User groups are free to distribute this program, the only
request we make is that we are notified that you are distributing
it.
If you are paying from a foreign country, you should be able to
get a postal money order in U.S. dollars from your local post
office. Also, if you want us to change the constants in "D"s
display to use your own native language, we'll do that.
DISCLAIMER
ERGO has been thoroughly tested and works flawlessly on a variety
of systems. However, no warranty or liability in any form or
manner is implied or suggested. If this evaluation copy works on
your system, you have already done a compatability test.
